Full Solar System: Flash AR + Papervision

Another update from the addictive world of Flash AR.  Here’s a quick mockup of the Solar System that fits in the palm of your hand!  I realize that the scale / distances / rotations / speeds are way off, but it’s a start!  There seems to be some performance issues that I think are coming from unoptimized textures – I’ll clean this up soon.

To try this yourself you can do the following:

  1. Click on this symbol and print out a copy

  2. Click here to access the Flash video
  3. Click the ‘Start’ button
  4. When prompted, let Flash access your webcam.  Note that if you are on a Mac you may need to tell the Flash player to use the correct webcam.  You can do this by right-clicking on the movie and selecting ‘Settings’ – then click on the camera icon and select ‘USB Camera’
  5. Hold up the symbol to your webcam to view the simulation

    Impressive!!!

I also dabble in AR using BuildAR since all the necessary functions are ready. Even it has the function to create the marker easily.
Honestly I’m not into programming much, but the results that I get using BuildAR blows my mind!

Good to know fellow AR enthusiasts !!!
